Day 01

Arrival in Kathmandu, 1350 m, and Hotel Transfer, 30 minutes

After you arrive at TIA, you will find a Prime Holidays member waiting for your reception at the arrival gate. He will organize your transfer to the hotel in the city where you will check in to settle.

Later, you can enjoy your day at your own pace. Explore the nearby local markets that are rich with the aromas of incense sticks, spices, herbs, and flowers.

In the evening, our guide will meet you and share with you the details of an adventure we have planned for you in our Kathmandu, Nagarkot, and Chitlang educational tour.

Get ready for an invigorating day filled with exciting activities. After you have breakfast at the hotel, our guide will pick you up for a thrilling rock climbing action in one of the institutes in Thamel.

Under the expert guidance in the institute, you will learn the basic skills of rock climbing. Once you complete the climbing session, we will then drive southeast to Bhaktapur Durbar Square.

Here, we will look at the details of the 55 Window Palace, Lion’s Gate, Golden Gate, Pottery Square, Dattatreya Temple, Nyatpole Temple, and several other UNESCO sites.

Our guide will offer you many intriguing facts about each monument, helping you learn about Nepal’s rich history. We will now head to Pottery Square, located southwest of the Bhaktapur Durbar Square.

There are several workshops here where we can learn about creating beautiful masterpieces from black clay, rotating them on a wheel. We will at least create one clay piece for ourselves under the guidance of an expert.

As the afternoon progresses, we will then set out to drive to Nagarkot along the wide Araniko Highway. We will be right on time to see the sun dipping below the magical, snowy Himalayas of Nepal.

Today is one of the main attractions we have planned for you in our Kathmandu, Nagarkot and Chitlang educational tour.

Getting up early, we will climb gently to the lookout point of Nagarkot Hill to see the lovely sunrise over Manaslu, Hiunchuli, Rolwaling, Annapurna I and II, Jugal Himal, Ganesh Himal, Gyaltzen Peak, Gaurishankar, Shisapangma, Langtang, Dorje Lakpa, and Annapurna South.

After this, we will go back to our hotel for a tasty organic mountain breakfast. Next, we will lace up our walking shoes and head out on a trek to the Changu Narayan temple.

The steep stone steps will take us down to Telkot, a beautiful Tamang Village. The trail then runs through an aromatic pine forest until we reach the ancient Changu Narayan Temple, dedicated to Lord Vishnu.

This Licchavi period temple is listed as one of the ancient heritage sites that is rich in its detailed metal, wood, and stone carvings. Be amazed by the grand sculpture of Garuda (a large mythical bird) and the cosmic form of Lord Vishnu.

We will now head back to Kathmandu for a relaxing overnight stay.

After your breakfast, our guide will meet you at the hotel to take you for a visit to Swayamabhunath Temple and then Kathmandu Durbar Square. The Temple positioned over a hill will allow you to see the entire Kathmandu Valley.

The Kathmandu Durbar Square, on the other hand, will show you the exquisite Newari architecture. Capture memorable photos with locals in traditional dress or Hindu holy men (Sadhus).

Next, we will head to Chandragiri Hill, just 14 km away, and about an hour’s drive from Kathmandu. Our route will take us through Kalimati and Kalanki to Thankot, only 7 km from Chandragiri.

Once beneath this gorgeous hill, we will then engage in a cable car ride to the summit of the hill. The spellbinding spectacle of Langtang, Ganesh, Manaslu, Annapurna, and Everest awaits you at the top.

We will also see the nearby Lord Shiva Bhaleswor or Ichheshwor Mahadev temple and enjoy local food stalls.

Finally, we will hike back down to Chitlang village, passing Matatirtha and Chhap Bhanjyang, before settling in for a campfire dinner in the village.

This day is one of the awaited adventures of our Kathmandu, Nagarkot, and Chitlang educational tour. The village of the Makwanpur district is a charming small Newari village encircled by the lush woodlands.

Breathing in the crisp morning air, we will enjoy a healthy organic breakfast before we set out to explore the village. We can walk to the Chitlang Organic Village Resort to learn about organic farming methods.

We can also visit Satdhara, a collection of seven springs known for their pure, refreshing water. Then there is also a One Tree Hill where we can relax and do nothing.

After some time, we will hike to Indra Sarovar, a nearby man-made lake. Our route will take us through Markhu to this reservoir created for the Kulekhani Hydro Project.

We can see a large dam blocking numerous rivers, thus forming a 7 km long reservoir. Tourists come to this new, enchanting destination for fishing and rowing.

We will also enjoy a motorboat ride or row a simple boat, learning teamwork along the way. After this exciting adventure, we will hike back to our accommodation in Chitlang.

Today, we will visit a number of local schools in Chitlang Village. The students and teachers here will welcome us with open arms and share their educational methods. We will engage with the children and share our insights.

Then, we will proceed to Veda Farm, which has now become the Goat Farm of the village. Here, we will learn how cows and sheep are raised for wool, milk, and meat production. We will also gain knowledge about the jojoba oil production and trout farming.

If we missed the chance to visit the organic resort yesterday, we will do so today. We will then return to Chandragiri, where we will take a cable car ride back down to the base of the hill. Here, our vehicle will be ready to take us back to Kathmandu.

Just open the website, fill in the required information, upload your photo and passport digital copies, and get the barcode. Print the form and show it at the respective immigration counter at TIA or any land border.

Pay the fee at the designated bank counter and get your visa stamped. The cost of a tourist visa in Nepal varies with your stay length, which is:

  • 15 days: USD 30 per person
  • 30 days: USD 50 per person
  • 90 days: USD 125 per person

If you want to stay longer, you can reach out to the Kathmandu Immigration office and pay USD 45 per person for a 15-day extension and USD 3 per person after. Children from the US will be granted a free Gratis Visa.

In terms of the entrance fees for the UNESCO monuments visit, we will pay the cost on site.

Health and Safety

Still, for your safety, we recommend you get the latest vaccinations for hepatitis A, hepatitis B, typhoid, Japanese encephalitis, influenza, COVID, and rabies.

If you are entering Nepal from Africa, the Middle East, South America, Indonesia, Pakistan, or the Philippines, you may have to present your vaccination certificate for Yellow Fever and Polio.

They offer all SIM sizes and eSIM Cards as well, which you can purchase online and activate once you land in Kathmandu. WiFi is also great in Kathmandu Valley, Nagarkot, Chandragiri, and Chitlang.

However, it may not be as reliable in Chitlang, where you can use 4G data from NTC or NCELL.
