Both Kathmandu and Nagarkot are enveloped in a temperate climate. However, Nagarkot at an elevation of over 2000 m experiences diurnal heat, which means this hill station is colder than Kathmandu, with daytime heat varying between 20-25°C (68-77°F).
The summer, through June and August, is also very hot and humid, while winter (December-February) is cold with foggy mornings.
Therefore, the months of September, October, and November (Autumn), as well as March, April, and May (Spring), will be particularly favorable for our Kathmandu Nagarkot tour. These months show the majestic Himalayan views at their full splendor.
Expect a little bit of snow in January and high heat, humidity, and heavy rain of the monsoon in the summer months.
Our Kathmandu Nagarkot tour is recognized as one of the most accessible adventures in Nepal, rated as Profile 1, reaching the maximum elevation of 2195 m at Nagarkot.
Therefore, our Kathmandu tour perfectly suits all those individuals who have average fitness levels and limited time in Nepal. If you are yearning for the breathtaking beauty of the towering Himalayas but don’t want to be involved in demanding multi-day hikes, then our tour is the best option for you.
With no risk of altitude sickness, our Kathmandu Nagarkot tour is also appropriate for children and older adults who are suffering from mobility challenges or moderate health concerns.
If you like to complement or extend your current Nepal trip, then also, our four-day-long Kathmandu Nagarkot tour will be excellent for you.

Visa and Entry Permits
All international visitors participating in our Kathmandu Nagarkot tour must have a valid passport (with a minimum of 6 months’ validity), the most recent passport photo, and a visa to enter Nepal.
You can apply for this visa in advance at an embassy, consulate, or online. It is also possible to obtain visas as you arrive at TIA or at land borders. Please understand that delays may happen as queues tend to be long.
To reduce your waiting time at TIA, follow the online procedure at the Nepal Immigration website for the advance visa application. Upload your scanned passport and photos and print the filled form.
Present this form at TIA along with your passport and photo, and pay the required fee. The price for a tourist visa in Nepal will be based on the length of your stay in Nepal.
You can further extend your stay by reaching out to the Office of Immigration in Kathmandu. The 15-day extension will cost you USD 45 per person with an additional USD 3 for each extra day.
Please remember that children under ten years old will receive a Gratis Visa at no cost (not applicable for the US).
Likewise, we also need to pay an admission fee to each UNESCO monument we visit in the Kathmandu Valley. Our company will make all the payments that are already included in the overall price of our Kathmandu Nagarkot tour package.
As of now, there are no vaccination requirements for entering Nepal. However, travelers from Africa, the Middle East, South America, Indonesia, Pakistan, and the Philippines may need to provide a vaccination certificate for Yellow Fever and Polio.
To be on the safe side, we advise you to get the up-to-date vaccinations for hepatitis A, hepatitis B, typhoid, Japanese encephalitis, influenza, COVID, and rabies.
We also suggest you wear protective clothing and apply insect repellent to all exposed areas of your body, mainly at night and in the evenings, as protection from mosquito-borne infections.
If you experience any health issues during our Kathmandu Nagarkot tour, please tell our guide instantly. Also, carry a personal medical box that contains iodine, bandages, antiseptics, and treatments for fever, diarrhea, constipation, insect bites, and sunscreen.
There are multiple types of electrical outlets used in Nepal, but the most common ones are Type C (two-pin Europlug) and Type D (three-pin Indian-style).
We recommend you bring a travel adapter to avoid any charging issues during your travel. The voltage in Nepal is set at 220 volts, which is suitable for all your electrical devices. At present, there are no power outages in the country.
For mobile communication, you can contact your national providers to activate roaming services while in Nepal. However, the most affordable option is to buy a local Nepali SIM from the main providers, NCELL and NTC. These mobile companies provide SIM cards in all sizes, as well as eSIM options.
Simply show your proper ID and photo to get a Nepali SIM and activate the service instantly. WiFi internet is also excellent in Kathmandu and Nagarkot, and it’s almost always free.
If WiFi fails to work (which rarely occurs), you can also take advantage of the 4G data services offered by NTC or NCELL.
In Nepal, the official currency that is used is called the Nepalese Rupee (NPR). Smaller currency units do exist, but they are seldom used in everyday life.
Alongside the NPR, Indian Currency (INR) in denominations up to 100, American Dollars, and Euros are also accepted.
Since the Prime Holidays team will be picking you up from TIA, we suggest you exchange rupees at the reputable bank counters of Nabil, SBI, Everest Bank, Himalayan Bank, Nepal Rastra Bank, or Standard Chartered, which charge only a minimal government fee for currency exchange.
Likewise, you will also find plenty of ATMs in Kathmandu where you can conveniently withdraw cash using major credit cards (subject to fees). We suggest you consult your bank before traveling to Nepal to learn about the fees for using credit cards abroad.
Card payments are also widely accepted in Kathmandu now. However, each transaction may result in a charge of 3.5% to 4%, depending on your bank.
You can also install the popular digital mobile wallets such as Esewa, Khalti, and IME. You can load money from your bank account and make payments online.
Travel insurance, although not compulsory, will be a very helpful element in your Kathmandu Nagarkot tour. The insurance will help you cover your extra and unexpected costs in the event of early return, extended stay, accidents, injuries, or illness.
It will also refund you the cost that may be needed for the air ambulance transfers. Thus, we advise you to get the basic insurance plan for our Kathmandu Nagarkot tour that will offer you emergency assistance if needed.
You will need to cover only a handful of small costs in our Kathmandu Nagarkot tour, which includes:
