Today, we will get to know Kathmandu like a friend. With our guide, you will visit the extensive complex of the Hindu temple Pashupatinath. The main pagoda-style temple is off-limits to foreigners, but you can witness the cremation rites at Aryaghat at the edge of the Bagmati River.

Next, we will head to the 14th-century Boudhanath stupa, which will enchant us with its huge, vibrant mandala. We will also explore the many monasteries nearby.

Afterward, we will travel southeast to Bhaktapur, where you will get to see the treasures like the Nyatapola Temple, Nepal’s largest pagoda, the intricately designed 55 Window Palace, the stunning Golden Gate, and Vatsala Temple with its Taleju Bell.

We will also not miss the chance to taste the famous King’s Curd, Juju Dhau. From here, we will then visit Changu Narayan Temple, which lies on the way to Kathmandu.

This temple is home to Nepal’s oldest Shilalekh (inscription) written on a 5th-century pillar. Along with Lord Vishnu, Shiva, Ganesh, Kali, and Krishna are also worshiped here.

After this full day of exploration, we will end our day and return to our hotel.

Today, our Kathmandu world heritage tour will take us to Swayambhunath Temple, Patan Durbar Square, and Kathmandu Durbar Square.

The Swayambhunath Temple is a self-manifested Buddhist shrine that is significant for Hindus and Buddhists and is home to local macaques. Each of the four cardinal points of the stupa has shrines with images of the five cosmic Buddhas, the fifth located in a side chapel.

When we descend the steps opposite the main entrance, we will see the three magnificent statues: Buddha Sakyamuni, Bodhisattva Avalokitesvara, and Guru Rinpoche.

Because this shrine is positioned atop a hill, the wide, extensive Kathmandu panorama is also clearly visible.

Next, the royal city of Patan will welcome us, where we will explore the Krishna Temple, Golden Temple, Sundari Chowk, Ashok Pillars, Mahabuddha Temples, Rudra Varna Mahavihar, and Red Machhindranath Temple.

Afterward, we will return to Kathmandu to explore its ancient corners and the royal square. This square is the heart of the capital, which is filled with temples and bustling narrow streets.

Major sights include Taleju Bhawani Temple, Hanuman Dhoka, Museum, Kumari Ghar, Makkhan Mahadev Temple, and many statues, alongside the vibrant commercial life of the local traders.

Trip Information

Weather and Best Season

Kathmandu lies in the temperate zone that experiences significant monsoon rains. The spring months (March-May) envelop Kathmandu in mild 20 to 22 degrees Celsius heat, while the autumn months (September-November) shadow the valley in 28 degrees Celsius heat.

The summer months (June to August) with 30 to 33 degrees Celsius daytime heat, with heavy monsoon rains blanket the entire Kathmandu Valley.

On the other hand, the 18 to 20 degrees Celsius winter heat in December-February usually offers sunny yet short days.

Therefore, each of these seasons will be very comfortable for the Kathmandu World Heritage tour, but spring and autumn stand out for their beauty and vibrant celebrations.

Who can join our Kathmandu World Heritage tour?

Our 4-day-long Kathmandu World Heritage tour is a level I, the utmost relaxing, comfortable, easiest, and shortest tour in Nepal. The sea level elevation of the Kathmandu Valley, on the other hand, completely prevents altitude sickness, while our guided private tour eliminates the need for hiking.

Thus, families, children, the elderly, friends, or those who have a very short time available, or who like to enrich their other Nepal trips with something unique and beautiful, can simply join our Kathmandu World Heritage tour.

Fitness and Preparation

Since our Kathmandu World Heritage tour is the ultimate comfort Nepal tour that includes only light walking and sightseeing excursions, we recommend only simple activities like walking, cycling, swimming, running, skipping, and stair climbing to prepare for the tour.

One month of training with these activities will prepare you adequately for the journey.

Visa and Entry Permits

A 15-day Nepal tourist Visa is a must for our Kathmandu World Heritage tour. To get the tourist visa for Nepal, you must have a valid passport that should be active throughout the tour duration and for six months after.

You will also need to have a recent passport photo, which you can take at the TIA as well. For your convenience, we suggest you pre-apply for the tourist visa at https://nepaliport.immigration.gov.np/.

Make sure to print the pre-visa form with your personal barcode and show it at the Immigration Department counter at TIA. You will have three options for the duration of the Nepal tourist visa:

  • 15 days: USD 30 per tourist
  • 30 days: USD 50 per tourist
  • 90 days: USD 125 per tourist

If you change your mind and would like to stay a bit longer, you can also extend the visa duration by paying USD 45 extra at the Nepal Immigration office.

For children under ten, a Gratis Visa is available, free of charge except for US children.

An entrance permit should be paid for at every UNESCO monument in the Kathmandu Valley. Our company will be handling all these fees, already part of the total Kathmandu World Heritage tour cost.

Health and Safety

There is no requirement for vaccinations for our Kathmandu World Heritage tour. However, if you are coming from Africa, the Middle East, South America, Indonesia, Pakistan, or the Philippines, you may be required to show a vaccination certificate for Yellow Fever and Polio.

As a precautionary measure, we suggest you get vaccinated for COVID-19, polio, influenza, typhoid, hepatitis A, rabies, hepatitis B, and Japanese encephalitis.

Bringing your own personal medical kit will also be helpful, which should contain iodine, bandages, antiseptics, and treatments for fever, diarrhea, constipation, insect bites, and sunscreen.

Charging, Internet, and Mobile Communication

Electricity in Nepal is now reliably supplied 24 hours a day. The usual voltage here is between 220 and 240 Volts, and the common electrical plugs used are Type C (two-pin Europlug) and Type D (three-pin Indian-style).

As for the cellular connection, you can get the eSIM or a normal SIM (nano, micro, or standard size) of NTC/Namaste or NCELL. Namaste is the government provider, while NCELL is the private entity.

You can easily get their SIM showing your ID and photo. As for internet connectivity, your accommodating hotel and any other public places in Kathmandu will offer you free WiFi.

Money and Exchange

Nepal uses the official currency, the Nepalese Rupee, which is available in paper notes and coins. Please don’t rush to convert your money to Nepali on your arrival day at TIA, as our company will be receiving you directly at TIA.

Instead, change your money at the reliable bank outlets such as Nabil, SBI, Everest Bank, Himalayan Bank, Nepal Rastra Bank, or Standard Chartered, as they only charge a minimal government fee for currency exchange.

ATM booths are readily situated everywhere in Kathmandu; however, be aware of the surcharge for international withdrawals that can occur between USD 5 to USD 7 per transaction.

We suggest you take out between NPR 20,000 and NPR 35,000 in one single transaction, so your extra charge will be minimal. Card payments are also now widely accepted in Kathmandu.

However, each transaction can charge you 3.5% to 4% depending on your bank. Online wallets such as Esewa, Khalti, IME, etc, are also used widely in Kathmandu.

You can load the money from your bank account and make the online payment.

Travel Insurance

Travel insurance is not a requirement for our Kathmandu World Heritage tour, as Kathmandu has a strong infrastructure to ensure your safety and health.

Still, we strongly suggest that you obtain a policy that will offer financial support and a refund should any health emergencies, repatriation, accidents, injuries, or any medical issues occur.

Also, ensure you secure yourself against any conditions that can disrupt your travel plans, such as lost luggage, extra stays, theft, robberies, or third-party liabilities.

Extra Uncovered Expenses

Trust us, once you have booked any trip or tour with us, we will take care of all the travel details related to the tour. Still, there are a few small expenses that you will have to take care of yourself, such as:

  • Your personal travel insurance,
  • International flights to and from Nepal,
