Overview
Rich with Tibetan culture lies in the Himalayas of Nepal; Upper Mustang Trek is hidden from the rest of the world. It was a different kingdom and was closed to the outer people due to their high privilege. And this hidden Buddhist kingdom had its king and palace. With the beautiful landscapes, snow-capped mountains, desert-like places, and heavy wind, this place brags unmutilated. Having fewer population people of Mustang wants to preserve this untainted area, so they have high privilege toward other people.
Upper Mustang Trekking is very expensive as the local government has thrust stringent rules to the outsiders, so this place is relatively unknown to the tourists. Entering this place is very costly, but every penny you spend is worth the things you get to experience. Lo Manthang, the capital of Upper Mustang, with the local traditional culture they have their lifestyle. With a unique walled settlement, there are about 300 houses and four castes living in Lo Manthang. You can hire horses to explore this area.
This trek takes about 10-14 days with an everyday walk of 5-6 hours or more someday. The actual tour starts from Jomsom, but you can also start from Ghorepani poon hill. The local government appoints a local guide to guide you along the way. Autumn and spring is the best choice of time/season to trek. But you can go in winter too, but winter is not favorable for everyone.

This is another free day in Kathmandu. We will explore the town, do some shopping and rest or maybe take a sauna. We will prepare to depart on the very next day until we are back again.
