Why Choose Panch Pokhari Trek?

There are many trekking routes in Nepal, out of which the peaceful environment and spiritual appeal of Panch Pokhari are unique.

The first one is that the route is not crowded, thus, you will be able to walk for several hours amidst lush forests and a cool climate from the mountains.

Secondly, these five lakes carry great religious significance for both Hindu and Buddhist religions. On the occasion of Janai Purnima, one seeks a dip at this holy site during festival season. The environment is serene even during normal periods.

Moreover, the trek offers magnificent views of Jugal Himal, Dorje Lakpa, and surrounding snow-capped peaks. Every day, the landscape gets changed. You pass terraced farms, rhododendron forests, yak pastures, and high alpine terrain.

Most importantly, the Panch Pokhari trek from Kathmandu provides just the right blend of culture and nature in a short Himalayan trek.

Panch Pokhari Trek Difficulty and Altitude

The highest altitude at Panch Pokhari is around 4,100 meters. It is considered a moderate-level trek.

It is suitable for fit beginners and experienced trekkers. The trail includes steady uphill climbs, but it does not require technical climbing skills. Because of the gradual elevation gain in this itinerary, most trekkers can adapt comfortably.

Taking a walk or mild exercise before this will make the journey all the more enjoyable.

Altitude Sickness Information

At higher altitudes, some trekkers may even show slight symptoms of altitude sickness like:

  • Headache
  • Fatigue
  • Nausea
  • Shortness of breath

To reduce risk:

  • Walk at a steady pace
  • Stay hydrated
  • Avoid alcohol
  • Inform your guide if you are unwell

If the symptoms become severe, going to a lower altitude is the best and safest option. Your guide will be prepared to handle this.
