Overview

A combined cultural journey across two Himalayan kingdoms — from Kathmandu’s ancient temples to Bhutan’s monasteries and fortress architecture. Includes UNESCO World Heritage sites in Nepal, a scenic Himalayan flight into Bhutan, and the iconic hike to Tiger’s Nest (Taktshang Monastery). Kathmandu–Paro–Kathmandu flights are included.

Health advisory: Mild altitude effects possible in Paro — stay hydrated and pace yourself. Risk is low compared to high-altitude trekking routes. Travelers with respiratory or heart conditions should consult a doctor before the trip.

Bhutan Entry Requirements

  • Pre-approved visa clearance required before arrival, processed by a licensed Bhutanese tour operator; visa is stamped on arrival at Paro International Airport
  • Independent travel in Bhutan is not permitted — a guide and driver are required at all times
  • Photography is restricted around some monasteries
  • Sustainable Development Fee (SDF): mandatory for international tourists, charged per person per night under Bhutanese government policy; included or arranged by the tour operator depending on package (regional exemptions may apply)

Flight Notes

Kathmandu–Paro flights are weather-dependent and subject to last-minute delays or schedule changes. Build in buffer time around international connections.

Best Time to Visit

  • Spring (March–May): clear skies, rhododendron blooms — good for trekking and sightseeing
  • Autumn (September–November): stable weather, strong mountain views
  • Winter (December–February): cold but clear skies, fewer crowds
  • Monsoon (June–August): not recommended — rain and frequent flight delays

Day 1

Arrival in Kathmandu – Explore around Thamel

After you land in Kathmandu, you will be greeted, then transferred to your hotel. The rest of the day is kept free for your own little wander around Thamel, the city’s lively tourist hub, packed with shops, cafés, and cultural energy.

Meal: Dinner

Today is dedicated to visiting around Kathmandu’s most sacred and iconic landmarks.

You will visit:

  • Pashupatinath Temple – sacred Hindu pilgrimage   
  • Bouddhanath Stupa – one of the largest stupas in the world
  • Kathmandu Durbar Square – royal heritage style architecture  
  • Swayambhunath Stupa (Monkey Temple) – panoramic view over the whole valley

This day gives you deep insight into Nepal’s spiritual and historic identity.

Meal: Breakfast and Dinner 

In the early morning you take a scenic flight from Kathmandu over the high Himalayas, arriving in Paro with amazing views.

Once you arrive, you’ll be driving toward Thimphu, Bhutan’s capital city.

Afternoon sightseeing includes Tashichho Dzong, also known as the Fortress of the Glorious Religion.

An evening walk along Thimphu’s main street, and the local market gives you this glimpse to Bhutanese daily life.

Meal: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner

After breakfast, we drive back toward Paro, while we also explore Bhutan’’s cultural heritage.

Visits include: 

  • Textile Museum – traditional Bhutanese weaving artwork 
  • Simple Bhutan Museum – interactive cultural encounter
  • Memorial Chorten – spiritual Buddhist stupa
  • Buddha Point (Kuensel Phodrang) – huge Buddha statue with valley views

Later, you can keep doing sightseeing in Paro then come back to your hotel

Today is a real highlight, one of those memorable moments on the whole tour.

You will set off on a 5 hour hike toward Taktshang Monastery (Tiger’s Nest), which is among Bhutan’s most sacred and iconic locations, dramatically hanging there on a Cliffside.

In the evening, take a relaxed evening walk around Paro town, and into the local market area.

Meal: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner  

After breakfast, we fly back to Kathmandu from Paro. 

When you arrive, go over to Bhaktapur Durbar Square, wonderfully preserved medieval city, known mostly for its temples and its traditional architecture style. 

Later on, go back to your hotel for check in and some leisure time.

In the evening, have a traditional Nepali cultural dinner with dance performances and a real local experience.
