Best Season

Our Everest Base Camp helicopter tour is available in all seasons of Nepal. However, the monsoon rains occurring between June to August can lead to a day or two postponement of the tour, while the winter fog of December, January, and February can delay the morning take-offs.

So, if you like to avoid such issues, then the spring (March to May) or autumn (September to November) will open the best window for this tour.

Altitude Sickness

Altitude sickness, known as acute mountain sickness (AMS), is a physical discomfort felt at moderate to high altitudes. Above 3000 m, oxygen and air pressure drop than at sea level, which can cause issues for those coming from the flat regions.

In our Everest Base Camp helicopter tour, you will have a short stop at Lukla, which is at 2860 m, before flying above 4000 m and landing at the Everest View Hotel at 3880 m.

These quick altitude changes can trigger minor altitude sickness symptoms, mainly headaches, nausea, and drowsiness. To help with these, you can take Diamox in Kathmandu after you eat something lightly.

You should also keep drinking boiled water during the tour so altitude sickness can be prevented. Please be assured that our pilot will descend you immediately if your signs worsen. You will also have supplemental oxygen support on hand.

Transportation

On our Everest Base Camp Helicopter tour, we will take care of your hotel and airport pick-up and drop-off with a private ride. Plus, we will also arrange your helicopter flight (either shared or private) for the tour.

Network and Internet

When you are in Lukla, you can take advantage of the 4G services from the Nepali mobile providers such as Namaste and Ncell. They also offer excellent cellular coverage for your communication.

At the Everest View Hotel, free WiFi is available, although it may be slightly slow due to the high number of users.

Permits

Since we will not only be flying but also landing for an hour at the Everest View Hotel within the Sagarmatha National Park of the Khumbu Municipality, we will need the following two permits for our Everest Base Camp helicopter tour:

• Sagarmatha National Park permit: NPR 3000 per guest
• Khumbu Municipality Local Area permit: NPR 2000 per guest

Please note that the government officials will be present at the Everest View Hotel, who will collect the permit fees in site (not covered in our total tour cost).

Travel Insurance

Please know that the Everest Base Camp helicopter tour needs you to possess travel insurance that covers your expenses for any helicopter evacuation and medical emergencies aside from the tour.

You can choose to stay one or two nights in Lukla on your return from the tour. The town has several of the best lodges and high-end hotels, along with the astounding views of Kongde Ri, Khumbila, and several other snowy pyramids.

Everest View Hotel Overnight

If the majestic natural amphitheater surrounding the Everest View Hotel has filled you with wonder, then you may also consider spending a night or two at this luxurious hotel.

Overnight Stay at Namche, Tengboche, or any other village
